This 3 Days Nyungwe Forest Chimpanzee Tour Rwanda takes you to the Nyungwe forest in southwest Rwanda. It borders Burundi to the south and Lake Kivu, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. Nyungwe is the best-preserved rainforest in the mountains of Central Africa. It is located in the watershed between the Congo River basin to the west and the Nile River basin to the east.
After breakfast, you will board your 3 Days Nyungwe Forest Chimpanzee Tour Rwanda vehicle and travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will eat lunch along the way and visit some of the area’s genocide memorials. Reaching Nyungwe Forest National Park in the late evening, you will check in at Peace Guesthouse for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast, make your way to the park’s offices for a briefing on the primates and the forest. You will then enter the tropical rainforest in search of the shy chimpanzees hiding in the tree branches. While on this walk, you may also see mangabeys, colobus, vervet, and red-tailed monkeys. You will return to the guesthouse for lunch and take an evening canopy walk looking for primates and birds. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Peace Guesthouse.
After breakfast, you will make your way back to Kigali, eating lunch en route. Today you will visit the Kabgayi Cathedral, the ancient King’s Palace at Nyanza, and the Ethnographic Museum at Huye. Later you will meet a local women’s drumming group to hear about their history. Finally, you will go to the airport for your return flight home.
